Jack Campbell is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and an attorney. He earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Indiana University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Ball State University. He was admitted as a CPA in Indiana and is admitted to the practice of law in Indiana.

In 1984, Jack co-founded MASI, Ltd., a private investment banking firm headquartered in the greater Chicago, Illinois area. Prior to MASI, he was ran the Midwest Region M&A (mergers and acquisitions) practice for Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young). As the practice leader, his team coordinated and supported the M&A activities of 14 offices in 13 states. He was a member of the E&W National M&A team as well as serving for a time in the firm’s national M&A offices.

Prior to the his Midwest Region partner assignment, Jack ran a full service, practice office for E&W. As such, he oversaw the client service delivery of all tax, audit, and consulting services to a very diverse client base. Significant client groups included financial services, banking, plastics, metal-based manufacturing, assembly and fabrication, foundries, technology and electronic components, automotive components, healthcare, broadcasting, and not-for-profits. Client’s profile ranged from large public companies to middle-market, privately-held companies. In addition, Jack served as an instructor in the E&W National Tax Training program.

From its founding, Jack has guided MASI’s practice development with a dedicated focus to providing world-class M&A advisory services, corporate finance services, and corporate valuation and strategic planning services. Jack’s vision of MASI has and continues to be a firm that has intelligent, competent, experienced senior professionals supported by technical resources equal to those found inside “Wall Street” firms. As a result, MASI is staffed with highly skilled professionals using significant resources to execute M&A and corporate finance engagements for clients ranging from basic manufacturing to sophisticated information technology providers.

From Jack’s leadership and initiative, MASI was a founding member of M&A International, Inc. (a global, “closed-alliance” of investment banking firms). His influence, guidance, and personal contributions have lead to in creation of substantial global execution capabilities and resources that serve middle-market and larger corporate clients. His steady leadership and commitment have assisted M&A International to now be represented in 38 countries by 42 member firms with over 450 corporate finance professionals on staff. His M&A International responsibilities have included: Chairman of the “Best Practices Mission Committee” for a several terms; twice serving as president of M&A International (first in 1987 and then in 1999-2000); and as Chairman in 2000-2001. In November 2001, he completed implementation of his vision of long-term resource enhancements and retired as Chairman of M&A International and Chairman of the Membership Committee. He currently leads the Automotive Industry Practice Group and serves on several ad hoc committees during the year.

Jack is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth, the American Bar Association, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as well as various other professional groups. He has served as President of the Indiana Society of Chicago and is currently an officer of the Society and a Trustee of the Indiana Society of Chicago Foundation..

Jack has also been active on behalf of his alma mater, Ball State University, in a number of areas. He was a member the national committee coordinating Ball State’s first ever endowment campaign, Wings. He was a founding member of the Miller College of Business Executive Advisory Board and is current active member and chairs the Curriculum Review subcommittee. In 2007, Jack was recognized as an outstanding alum with an Award of Distinction. In addition to Ball State, Jack is a member of the Board of Advisors for the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis with the Board responsible for advising the dean of the school. At both Ball State and the law school, Jack has lectured on M&A, corporate growth, and corporate finance topics.

Jack has regularly been interviewed by the financial press and has written articles for national publication. In addition he has made presentations regarding various aspects of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and corporate finance before various national and international industry groups and professional education seminars. He has served as an advisor and as a member of boards of directors across variety of industries.
